Some idiot decided to jump his green light while I was making a protected left hand turn, and smashed into my right rear quarter panel. The impact ripped the engine off its mounts, causing it to drop. The muffler was partially torn off the car and the pipe separated from the actual muffler. And worst of all, the bastard scratched my pink paint job!
I tried to drive the car away from the scene of the accident after I was cleared to go, to discover the engine had dropped so much that it shuddered the whole car and sounded like something was going to explode. I limped around the corner to a friends house, went in the door, and collapsed into their chair. The tow truck guy took me to work and then dropped of my van at the fix-it place. Now I have to wait for a week until the police report comes out and the insurance companies start to duke things out. In the meantime, I'm homeless and vanless, since I'm set to move out on July 1st and was going to live in my van. Crap.

I am so bummed to hear about your crisis. Talk about bad timing...I'm going through a similar vehicle/relocation ordeal myself right now, so I feel your insanity.

Can't wait to read about your next adventure.

I am so very sorry you have had this happen to you. I would be very angry and frustrated, and I am sure you are.

Do you think there is any possibility the van will be fixable? Or will you have to start anew?

Again, please know that I and countless others who read feel sad for you and send you the kindest thoughts and hopes.

This just sucks! Having followed many of your blogs, I have been amazed at how the universe responds to you in times of need. Hopefully, the trend will continue and synchronicity will help you out of this jam. Good luck!

Hi! I found your post via Tara's blog at hobostripper.com (I don't know if you know her personally; I do). My fiancee and I considering a stint of van dwelling in the near future, so we like talking to them.

Then I noticed that you were in Austin. So am I! I live north, very close to ACC Northridge on Metric. Maybe we could meet for coffee and chatter sometime.

Take care, and drop me an e-mail if you'd like ( hxaosanto@yahoo.com ).

OK, one more thing, and this is going to sound weird coming from a complete stranger.

I saw your crash post, of course, which talked about you moving out on the 1st but now can't live in the van. I was randomly surfing and read bits of Wendy's blog, too, which said you were very upset about the crash. As I said before, I'm also in Austin, and I'm a bit of a nomad like you, so this feels like the right thing to do. Do you need a place to crash?

In any case, take care, and I hope everything works out as you want it to.

P.S. I'm also an ordained minister (of the Universal Life Church ;-) ), and filed my application from The Green Muse a couple of years ago. :-)

Hi Heather,
"That what doesn't kill you, will make you stronger". I think you are a very resilient person and that you'll do just fine. Keep your chin up.
I've been following your blog for sometime now because of my interest in the Country Plans website and building my own house someday.
I hope you are doing well. Later

Heather, does your mom want my old cantankerous laptop? It takes like 20 minutes to boot up, but it works. (It is, however, at my friend in Colorado's house and she's out of town so it would probably be a week before she could mail it).

Hey Heather? Saw you posted on your mom's blog about her toasted computer. Drop me an email, I'm fairly sure I can come up with a replacement- I will worry too much if she's not able to update her blog all the time!

Just found your blog through the yahoo mobile group...also the site created by your mom. I'm sorry to read about your misfortune and hope it all gets settled and you can still keep your van!

You and your moms experiences are inspirational to me...thank you.
