What I've been up to

I've been wicked busy the past week! I've been out having too much fun to be disiplined, sit down, and write.

Tonight Yestermorrow had a documentary film on the Rural Build project. Fascinating stuff. Pretty pictures. Scroll below to find a pic I took of their treehouse. One of the current interns is living in it at the moment. Otherwise I would have taken some inside pics...

Went to Maine, gawked at LL Bean, ate some scallops. Mmmmmmm. Saw Acadia, savored the pungent ocean air, poked around a lighthouse.

The hoard (Aunt Liz and family) will be decending shortly. They left Arizona on the 3rd and expect to be here in 4-6 days. I've been working like crazy to get everything nice and shiny and ready to go. I shudder to think how many ATV loads of my stuff has to come back and find a new home in my room. I think it's time to do some major rearranging in my 12x14 room to fit my velvet couch in there.

Made a couple of lists about my ideal soulmate. Top ten for "Must have" and "Must not".

Must Have:
1) Taller than me - preferably at least 6' +
2) Have a great smile and/or nice chest
3) Playful nature
4) A go-getter
5) Love variety
6) Like books and reading
7) Romantic and sensual
8) Great conversationalist
9) Practical talent ... I.E., mechanic, carpenter, great with people/leadership
10) Will do the dishes

Will not touch with a 10 foot pole:
1) Picky eater
2) Homophobe/sexist pig/republican (But I repeat myself...)
3) Chew with mouth open
4) Not like traveling/camping
5) Can't amuse himself, especially in bookstore
6) Rude to waiters/bad tipper
7) Hate dogs
8) More than occasional drinker/gets drunk on purpose (Buzzed is fine...sloshed is not)
9) Whiny
10) Smoker / does drugs

Two very good lists. Now I know what to and what not to get you for your birthday and Christmas.

Oooh oooh, can you send me my present early? I can't wait for December 1st!

It's scary that I'll be legal in less then 4 months. Gee, I'll be able to drink, rent a car, participate in eharmony.com, buy sex toys over the internet, and be old enough to be considered for most outdoor rec leadership jobs.

Part of it should be there this week.

Hmmmm...tantalizing. Do I get a hint?

I am a Republican and a Christian but I am neither a Homophobe nor a Sexist Pig. Wow, and people say Republicans are mean spirited and divisive. I have seen more of this type of behavior from Democrats than Republicans.
But all in all it doesn't matter because I am very happily married and have no interest in becoming anyone's boyfriend, except for my wife's!

By the way, eharmony.com was started by a very Christian person, Dr. Neil Clark Warren. They beleive in Christian values so you may want to stay away.

Reads like an advertisement in a classified ad. I just find it sad that these are the things you are limiting yourself to, both in what you can do when you turn of age and what you are looking for in a mate. I, too, am happily married and with marriage comes compromise. Not of your values and morals, but of your expectations of another person. No one will fit into a concise description.

It is ironic that someone who appears to be so "enlightened" for her age is also so closed minded to other people's ideas or lifestyles. For the age of liberation, I do not see much tolerance.

Seems that I always hear liberals or Democrats saying what they are against and name calling, but I never here what they support. Perhaps you could form a focus group and come up with something?

I thought Heather's lists are GREAT! ;-) What's to complain about? You look for the best for you and the best will rise to the surface like lush, rich, yummy cream ;-) Mom ;-p

This has got to be one of the stupidist remarks I have ever seen!!!! Who you live and love with is very different from those who are mere acquaintances. People can have all sorts of ideas and lifestyles. That's their choice. But **no one** has to be with someone incompatible. A mate needs to be someone you can respect.

If a guy smoked, drank, did drugs, watched sports, beat my dog, ate Velveeta, told me to hurry up with supper, didn't do the dishes or did any of the things on Heather's NOT list, in my house, he'd be sent packing. Better to be honest up front about what turns you off.
Mom ;-p

I guess your mom and I are the only people that hang out on your journal at night. Honestly, I can see how chewing with your mouth open would turn you off. And it ranks much higher than a person's character or, perhaps, let's say honesty and loyalty. That along with the whole Velveeta cheese thing your mom brought up would definitely be my top consideration. But, hey, we all have different priorities.

Chewing with your mouth open is gross, but squeezing all the food out through your clenched teeth is really funny... especially if it's cake. Excellent lists.

Heather,

I can see why you don't want a guy who whines. Too much of it already at your house.

What is wrong with these people. Everybody has ( or had ) their idea of the perfect mate at the age of 21, though your opinions might change over the years dont settle for anything but the best, you dont deserve anything less !!!!

PETE: AT ALL COSTS, stay away from the Velveeta!!! Just a word to the wise.
